Taster Sessions - Uni of South Wales

The University of South Wales is running a number of taster sessions/workshops in July in English, Psychology and Business.  Details of these are on the sixth form notice board.  If you are interested, please give your name to Mrs Brockley by Friday May 10th.

Re - sit Maths info

If you are re-sitting Maths this summer, Mr Green will be running a revision classs Lesson 2 every Wednesday starting 1st May.

WBQ Year 13 - Wednesday 24th April Lessons 3 & 4

I will not be in your lesson. However, all learners still registered on the course are expected to attend. Please give your names to Mrs Brockley and remain in the library which has been booked for you.

Those learners with IOLP portfolios and projects still outstanding must complete today and submit by Friday this week at the very latest. All those who have their feedback on how to improve must act on this before next lesson (our final one before external deadline).

Please all ensure you read the information you have been sent regarding Communication Level 3 day it is essential that you attend ON TIME in order to pass the course.

Interested in working in Health Care/Physiotherapy?


Past student Gavin Evans who is studying Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and some other students from his  course are coming in on Wednesday May 1st Period 5 (PSE) to run a workshop on Physiotherapy and Health Care jobs/courses. It will be in 6CR and open to both Year 12 and 13 students. 
 This is a great opportunity to hear first hand about the application process, courses and career prospects in the Health Care field.

DAC Beachcroft Legal Apprenticeships

DAC Beachcroft would like to promote their apprenticeships, especially to pupils in year 13 awaiting their final grades and to any other suitable clients we are aware of that have at least 280 UCAS points and 5 A-C GCSE grades including English and Maths.
An Open Day is being held on Tuesday 23rd April for possible candidates and parents to attend. The Open Day will start at 5:30pm and will be held at their Newport Office. See the link below for further info:

A letter from Public Health Wales regarding the current Measles outbreak is available from the library.  Please collect your letter as soon as possible. 

Higher Education Convention - Tuesday 16th April

Students can wear appropriate non-uniform for the visit to the Higher Education convention at Cardiff on Tuesday.

Interested in a career in Accountancy?

If you haven't returned your permission slip for the trip to the convention at Cardiff Met, please return it to the library by Friday 12th April. 
If you require an information letter and permission slip, please collect these from the library.

Jobs Fair

A Jobs Fair is taking place on Wednesday 24th April between 10.00am -3pm.  For more information, please see the sixth form notice board.

Important Dates

Study leave for Year 12 students will commence on Monday 13th May and will end when students return to school for a compulsory Welsh Baccalaureate Week on Monday 10th June*.

Collaboration A2 courses will begin on Monday 17th June.

Study leave for Year 13 students will commence on Monday 27th May (half term)*.



* Note- All vocational courses will continue until class teacher notifies students the course is complete, attendance to these lessons will still be required.



Yr 13 students may also need to continue attending subjects after their study leave commences to finalise work.

Yr 13 Leavers Ceremony will be at 2pm on Thursday 20th June in 6CR- all welcome.
